RE: De-comp buttons...like you've never seen dem installed

I'd be scared to death to do what you did. Before becoming a helicopter mechanic, I was a structural assembler on CH-47 Helicopters. I drilled holes and filled them with fasteners all day long. The biggest question that I have is.........where does the metal go? It's gotta go somewhere when someone drills compression releases on your bike without removing anything. Some of it is going to be pulled out because it sticks in the flute of the drill but I'd bet that some of it is going to be pushed in also. I wouldn't be comfortable with that at all. Next time you have to drill something, look closely to what happens. When you pull the dril out, shavings come with it but once you punch it through......something is definitely going through with it. That scares me. LOL. I'd love to see this guy do this operation. I'm intrigued and totally interested in how he does it. I'm glad that your scoot is running better. Nothing's worse than a bike that doesn't run well or worse.....doesn't run at all. Good luck with it, lad.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

There's only one problem with that. It'll be really hard to get insurance if they know that the frame has been compromised. Besides that..... if the weld breaks, it's really gonna hurt. I'm just playing devil's advocate.

RE: Totally confused

PS. I agree that Pay....... The wrong needle wont do anything but make your scoot run like sh*t or not start at all. Hang in there. Find a good Indy in your neighborhood or further out and stick with em. Sometimes, Samson is much better than Goliath. You're from Ohio.......how much further is Cincinatti??? Call Sucker Punch Sally's and ask them if they know anyone??? Those guys are super cool but they usually deal with bigger engines and are mainly into new builds. However, they may help. Who knows????

I LOVE HARLEY'S........but I hate the dealer. It is what it is!! It's the classic example of Union guys building a fine quality product but big corporations destroying what is good in the name of greed. Your mileage may vary but it is what it is.

What size gasket do you have on your heads??? Sounds like you got alot goin on there, lad. I think there's more to this. However......What do I know??? Personally, I think you may have bought a bike with a bad build. That sux.

RE: Twin Cam engine numbers

I did a little research. That engine could be a Heritage Softail Classic. I'm not 100% sure of that but here's a link for you to look at. Harley Engine Numbers

Lad, You are a much much braver man than I.

NEVER TRUST THE DEALER!!!! They are the anti-christ. Joe Minton is a pretty knowledgable guy. Personally, I'd go with what he says.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I'll bet Denver is beautiful in the Spring and Summer but I'll also bet that riding season is short. It's getting colder here but the weather is still pretty good for riding. Hang in there Pay, nothing lasts forever. Right now, I'm watching Christmas with the Kranks and laughing my a$$ off.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Yeah. The directions blow. If I remember correctly, that wire got routed some other way. Once I figure that out, it was easy. I like that gauge alot. I especially like how you can see the LED in the daylight.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I have the same gauge on my bike. I like it. I bought the gas cap to match.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

In Delaware you have to have uninsured motorist insurance. It's the law. Personally, I'm glad that it is. The last time I was in a bike accident, the guy swerved into my lane and cut me off. He never even stopped or turned around. They paid me to fix my bike and I recieved a $10,000 settlement for my injuries. I used the money to buy an old school Triumph chopper. Old habits die hard.

I don't want to sound insensitive. I'm sorry if that's the way that I came off in the last post. I just hate it when a good guy gets fcuked. I still wear that Kuwait t-shirt. I'll always remember a bro that helps me out. That shirt still kicks ass. If I can help......please let me know. You've served. I remember.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Hello, Been away for a few months, and thought I'd say hi. I went to the 105th anniversary celebration in Milwaukee and saw Bruce Springstein in concert. It was a lot of fun! I was there to build a house for my sister and her family for 2 weeks, and the following weekend was the celebration. About 1000 miles each way. Last month I deceided to ride up there again and help again with work on the inside. The day I was supposed to leave, I was involved in a wreck with my 2005 RKC. A person pulled out in front of me and I smacked her passenger side at 30 mph. Bike was totalled, I broke 7 bones and was out for 30 minutes. I have been staying in WI since it happened on Oct 2nd and arrived home last weekend. I am happy to be out of a wheelchair, and now just use a cane to get around. The driver who caused had no insurance or license, and I just had liability because it had a salvage title. So I will without a scoot for quite some time I am sure. I need a frame and a lot of parts, and not sure if it is worth fixing even if I do all the work. Still I will research the cost of the parts, and dream of riding again in a year or so! Georgia King That sucks. I'm glad that you're still alive. Can't you file a no fault claim with your insurance company???

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Tommy Tune, Street Glide is lower than your bike, unless you already dropped it down, so you would be dragging stuff sooner, not good. Actually, the Road King Custom and the Street Glide are built on the same frame. Payloader is correct. Basically, they are the same bike with the exception of the fairing and the leather bags. The ground clearance is 4.7 inches on both. When they made the Road King Custom, they lowered the ground clearance from the height of a Road King Classic which is a half inch higher down to 4.7 inches. Pay, When I was in Canada over the Summer, I told some Canadian dude on a Road King Custom about the rotor swap. LOL

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I was actually considering trading in my RKC for a Street Glide. However, I'm now thinking that I should just get a detachable fairing from Dragonfly. In the end, it would be the same bike but it would have leather bags instead of the hard bags that the Street Glide has. I already put a 95 inch kit in it and modded my scoot to be exactly what I want it to be. I haven't added any new parts in well over a year. So, why start over? All I'm looking for is a way to get some tunes without making it look like crap.

RE: F4 Customs Windshield Product Review

What's the price tag on these? A scratch resistant shield would be well worth the money, even at twice the price.
